Bald Eagle

These are a few photos I got of a Bald Eagle when I was out at Hillsdale  Lake recently. I wasn’t real pleased with them, but they are the only pictures I have of a Bald Eagle. Hope you enjoy!

Hey Wyatt, do you shoot in RAW mode (or whatever the Nikon equivalent is to that)? If so, you could try using some hdr processing on those pics, along with some cropping and probably get some results you’d be happier with. I used both those techniques in the photos in my post today.

I try and shoot in RAW most of the time, but that day my memory card was filling up and I didn’t have a replacement, so I was shooting in Fine JPG. Thanks for the advice though!

They are a lot better than the eagle photos that I have-none!

What an awesome thing to get shots of a blad eagle! That is my favorite bird :). I remember my first shot and he wasn’t nearly as close as that one was. Shooting RAW is the way to go because you have more control in post processing, but I don’t think HDR would really work here. You have to have at least 3 exposures and shooting a bird in flight you will definitely not have 3 simultaneous shots. My advice is shoot at a higher exposure setting. This helps me, especially with backlit subjects. You might not get all the detail in the sky but it’s all about the subject anyway. So if you do not have a flash and an extender I say bump up that exposure :). Hope this helps!
